Sunday December 09

Ok, so I did some work before today that I did not post on. When I started this morning, I had all bulkheads except 9 cut out, ripped 48′ of 1 1/2″ x 3/4″ strips from 1×4’s. Leftover 1/4″ strips are perfect for marking battons for curves.

Today I laid out final side/bilge panel sheet and bulkhead 9 parts. Discovered rare omission in Michalak’s plans for one point location; sent email. Assembled BH 9. Took pictures. Click thumbnails for large size.

bulkhead-9.jpg Bulkhead 9. You can see that this is a much larger boat than my WOOBO.
About a foot and a half wider, deeper, 2’longer as well.
Also 300 lbs heavier!

detail-bh-9.jpg BH 9 detail. Note limber holes. Also note mid cross piece added because there was too little material on ply at bottom to secure cross piece 1″x4″. This is because I added the circular cutouts below where the seats will be to give bottom sleeper more room to spread.

Enough for now- need to go out and lay out more parts…

    Bill:

I am really happy to see work on your Mikesboat beginning now. I feel sure that you will be ready for the Texas200. I look forward to finally meeting you and Paul and introducing you to the Caprice which has given us so much pleasure over the years.

    Hey Chuck,
Thanks for comment. I have long been wanting to see “my” boat in the flesh. I knew she would be good; Michalak’s doing more than mine!

    Un Abrazo,
