Started the morning cutting hatch holes.

Max got hatches varnished while I got the first of two combings installed.

Meanwhile various other things were getting coated.

Here are some results shots at end of day. Nothing screwed down yet.

And some More….

Also got keelson spliced.  More work tomorrow….

Wednesday, May 14th

Got the hatches cut and framed up. Openings will be 14″ by 24″. Yes Mr. Michalak, I made then 2″ bigger, a pet peeve of yours, but I am going to do a “Proper” hatch combing to minimize leakage. Shown weighted down to dry flat on floor.

Also got the mast rough-sanded down; staggered splices shown in some photos.

Here is the Mizzen mast partner that  will mount on motor well starboard side. Hole for mast not done yet.

I also spliced the 6″ extensions onto the boom planks. If only it were 12′ and not 12′ 6″! One board would do it. Same situation for mizzen mast, but I haven’t gotten to that yet.

Trade Marked Pile-0-Rocks weighted splices!

Rain tonight and tomorrow, but clear Friday and through the weekend! First one in 7 weeks without rain! Need to get much done…

Since last post; did some shaping work on the decks, Interior is finished painting except floor-its final coat will be antislip. Cut holes in rudder for toes and lead.

.

Got mast cut to size (2 dimensions) , sanded, and glued up.

I have had calls to catch, wind and rain, and more tornados here in Atlanta/Georgia. Not much accomplished. On call again tomorrow.

I did not bother to take photos as there is not too much difference to see. I got the cockpit sanded and put on the first coat of color. Also sanded the exterior first prime coat and put on the second coat.

Drilled and countersunk holes for seat screws in both seats. Three hard hours. Covered up for potential rain showers tomorrow afternoon. This will be the 7th weekend in a row with at least one full day of rain!

Came across this quote by Henry Hazlitt which suits me to a “T”.

“Will-Power, then, may be defined as the ability to keep a remote desire so vividly in mind that immediate desires which interfere with it are not gratified.”

(Like food, sleep, work, wife, lawn mowing, house maintenance, etc!)

Hard to improve on that!

The cold hit me hard Sunday night and all day Monday. I did go to work, but defiantly did NOT make my money the old fashion way! Today I got up and did 35 minutes of my normal 45 minutes Treadmill Torture and felt better for it.

So this afternoon I got home late, 5:30pm, and got the microballones sanded down and then put on a coat of primer. Here are some photos.

Looks OK in stills, but I took this video to show how bad it really is.

Doesn’t look nearly so good now does it?!? But it will have to do. No time to spend a couple of days fairing/sanding/priming to get it right.

Sunday, 2pm

I got nothing done all weekend till today.  Well, excepting going to Northern tool and getting 2 new wheels/tires, light kit, Bearing buddies, etc. for the trailer. Today, after the first call, I started mixing up microballones and five 3oz pots later had this to show for it. Still unsanded till it cures.

Not very well done, but it will have to do.  I need to move on.  The last two days I have felt a cold coming on. Hope it is a mild one…

Below a walk-around movie of Mikesboat with final paint on Bow and stern well and chambers; 2nd coat of primer in cockpit. Sorry about the tail end, thought I had stopped recording and then forgot to edit it before I posted. But you all know I am a messy slob by now anyway!   Music I build to is Mozart (20th Piano Concerto in D minor).

Then some stills.

I am on call this weekend, so will only be able to work in dribs and drabs. Hope to accomplish something though.
